SWITZERLAND Hiking Guide w/@scanniich

We're following, Annina (@scanniich), through Winterthur, Switzerland as she introduces us to her top 3 hikes in her breathtaking country.  These intrepid hikes will take us through the beautiful countryside to the highest and iciest climates that Switzerland has to offer.  Thank you, Annina, for sharing your adventures with us!

You do *need* a guide! It’s often a 2 or 3 day tour where you walk 4 – 6 hours per day. You often start the hike at “Jungfraujoch” and walk down the upper part of the glacier. The night is spent in the mountain hut “Konkordiahütte” and it’s a one way trip. It’s absolutely breathtaking.

Elevation Jungfraujoch: 3463m

Elevation Konkordiahütte: 2850m

Hiking distance: ca 24 km

You can hike up on your own, it takes about 3 hours. Careful in winter though, it’s quite icy and can be slippery. If you’re too tired to hike back down you can also take the cable car.

Elevation Säntis: 2502m

Hiking distance: ca 4,5 km

It has different hikes to get there. So you can choose the path depending on your level of fitness. At the hut they do have a hot tub. What a special experience, to be in the mountains in a hot tub.

Elevation Etzlihütte: 2052m

Hiking distance: easiest hike (from Bristen) ca 8 km

A delicious small Tibetan restaurant, Tibet Bistro, Neuwiesenstrasse 14, 8400 Winterthur

Fresh and tasty waffles or a coffee for brunchtime, Gottlieber, Rudolfstrasse 1, 8400 Winterthur

And for coffee or for tea with a friend, or even a drink after work, Kafisatz, Spitalgasse 1, 8400 Winterthur

Christmas lights in the Marktgasse in Winterthur were voted the most beautiful Christmas lights in Switzerland. Seems like they’re a must see.
