INDIANA Hiking Guide w/ @thehappyhours_

Come with us as we venture into the Midwestern United State of Indiana!  @happyhours_is taking us deep into the preserves and state parks full of exciting landscapes and of course yummy eats. Thank you, Elyse, for sharing these amazing local adventures with us!

National Natural Landmark

Covington, IN

0.8-mile loop trail

Named for a natural bridge carved into the rock

Wooded valleys, ravines and rocky cliffs

Attica is a town nearby and Crossroads Restaurant is our go to stop! Our kids love the Mickey Mouse Pancakes with fries and I love their Grilled Chicken Salad Supreme or any omelet!

West Lafayette, IN

The landscape has been shaped by ice from glaciers, moving water, fire, and human hands that helped maintain the vast tall prairie grass.

There is 900 acres of restored prairie to venture through.

This state park has plenty of paved paths great for biking and walking through the entire park, campgrounds for tents and RVs, an outdoor pool for warmer months, picnic shelters, restrooms and playgrounds. This is easy hiking.

The Farm at Prophetstown is a 1920 homestead located within the park. Explore the farm, tour two homes and more!

Peoples Brewing Company is just down the road! Local beer and good food can be found here Ages 21+ only

Ice cream at Budges is a must

Live like a local by heading to downtown Lafayette! My favorites places downtown for coffee are Réveille Coffee Bar

or The Eleventh House, Two Tulips for shopping and Bistro Market and Deli for fresh and local produce, gifts, coffee, fresh deli and seafood and more!

Marshall, IN

This state park has it all! An inn, camping, picnic shelters, playgrounds, restrooms, nature center, horse back riding, an outdoor pool for warmer months and over 14 miles of easy to very rugged trails to explore!

Our favorite trails to explore are trail 6, 2 and 3.

Bring water shoes or shoes you are ok with getting wet!

Eat! Turkey Run Gas and Grill is up the road from the State Park.

The perfect stop for good food and ice cream! Their beef is from a local farm and I love their grilled tenderloin sandwich (Tenderloin's are a big thing in Indiana) Be sure to grab a scoop of ice cream before you hit the road, my favorite is butter pecan!
