A little over 35 minutes outside Portland, Latourell Falls Loop sets its sights from the moment you park. Going clockwise from the parking lot, your loop will take you straight up the elevation gain, past the Upper Latourell Falls, and lands you at the bottom of the base of the main lower falls in all of her glory.

Trillium Lake Trailhead, NF-2656, Government Camp, OR 97028
1.9 miles Length
26 ft Elevation Gain
A quick breathtaking stroll with a view of Mount Hood. Trillium Lake Day Use area greets onlookers by way of picnic tables, kayaks, canoes, stand up surfing and those who decide to just throw out a picnic blanket to observe the beauty of Mt. Hood herself. Parking is $10, NW Forest Day or NW Forest Annual Passes ONLY may be used in lieu of payment.

Mirror Lake Trail #664, Rhododendron, OR 97049
9.0 miles Length
1,709 ft Elevation Gain
One of the most amazing views of Mount Hood, just a little ten minutes from Trillium Lake. Tom, Dick and Harry Mountain is a booty burner which makes the views worth the climb. The challenging trail takes you past Mirror Lake and is popular amongst backpackers alike. It offers incredible views of Mount Hood, Mount Adams, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens and Mount Jefferson. Park at the Mirror Lake Trailhead near Government Camp and follow the well-maintained Mirror Lake Trail #664 past Mirror Lake to the summit. Although the trail is heavily-trafficked, crowds usually thin after Mirror Lake. Parking is $5, NW Forest Day or NW Forest Annual Passes ONLY may be used in lieu of payment.

Pinestate Biscuits

1717 NW 23rd Ave, Portland OR 97210

Open Mon-Sun: 7a-3p/Mon-Thur 8a-2p

Portland’s favorite brunch spot where you can get an array of your favorite breakfast dishes. My favorite item is the Reggie Delux, a biscuit sandwich loaded with fried chicken, Tillamook Cheddar Cheese, Bacon, topped with a fried egg, drenched in country gravy. Good with a mimosa, your favorite local craft beer, or local Coava Coffee.

Sugarpine Drive-In

1208 E Historic Columbia River Hwy Troutdale, Oregon 97060

Open Monday, Thursday-Sunday 11:00a-5:00p

Best known for its premium sundaes such as the Larch Mountain topped with PNW’s Troutdale, OR (On the way back from Wahclella Falls, Latourell Falls and the infamous Multnomah Falls) Usually my go to there is a waffle grilled cheese and tomato soup. However my latest find was their ever popular Cubano Sandwich - a slow smoked and mojo-braised pork shoulder, pork belly ham, melted swiss, escabeche and mustard sauce on a double milk slider roll.

Güero

Known for both their house made chai flights and warm doughnuts made on demand, you can choose your flavors in four, six, eight or twelve to either hoard for yourself or share. Pips staples are their raw honey & sea salt, cinnamon sugar, nutella & sea salt, candied bacon maple, the Reggie, and a rotating seasonal flavor. Chai flights

Best time of year to visit Portland is between June to August since our summers are warm and sunny with the occasional rainy day thrown in the mix, because how else are our views so green! For the hikes, you will need a permit for our waterfall corridor (May-September) and you may need to pay for parking depending on when you go. You can pre purchase a NW Parks Pass that you’ll need to display in your dashboard. For things in the city, you’ll usually do street parking that you can pay through an app called Parking Kitty.
