Northern CA Hiking Guide w/ @lisaalexfrost

Join us this week as we venture with @lisaalexfrost into the sunny trails of Northern California! These top 3 hikes are brimming with tallest trees in the world, beautiful wildflowers and an abandoned winery! The top eats and top shops are stops you won't want to skip past.  Plan your stay now to beat the heat!  Thank you, Lisa, for your expertise!

Shakota Trail at Lake Mendocino- some elevation gain/loss not too challenging, a lot of wildflowers especially in later spring, look for the old, abandoned winery with lake view or to have your rest/fuel/snack.

City View Trail- Moderate, dog friendly, open year-round, visit any time of year but if it’s summer go early to beat the heat, paved parking lot

Montgomery Woods- best to visit in the afternoon as there are fewer visitors and enjoy the late afternoon light through the old growth redwood tree grove. Redwoods line the creek, and it stays cool in the summer under some of the tallest trees on the planet

Schats Bakery and Café is in downtown Ukiah and is a good place to visit before you get out on the trails. They have a variety of options to get you started or come after for lunch or take tame home a bakery item. They close around 5:30 and are closed on Sundays. Outdoor/indoor dining options

Cultivo great menu of farm to fork options, unique and delicious wood fired pizzas, lunch, dinner and in the downtown area of Ukiah Outdoor/indoor dining options.

Ellie’s Mutt Hut small café, many different options on the menu, great salads, generous portions, gets busy around the typical lunch hour so try to stagger when you visit Outdoor/indoor dining options.

Mendocino Bounty specialty marketplace downtown with unique gifts, you will find something for yourself or someone else, local products too!

Shoefly &Sox fine footwear, and great gifts, excellent service open seven days a week

Summer in Inland Mendocino County can get very hot! Good times to visit would be late spring and even early summer, early June or fall as the leaves turning colors is a great show. If in the County in summer, head to the coast also filled with great walks and hikes. Downtown Ukiah is filled with options for boutiques and dining
